|Elevation gain 2200mt|
Be prepared, because this is one of the hardest itineraries we’re offering. In terms of both distance and difficulty (151 km and a 2200 m change in level) it’s only suitable for well-trained, very fit cyclists
You start at sea-level in Riccione and then head towards Morciano. Then there’s a long ascent, passing through Montefiore and taking you up to Tavoleto after 26 km.
You descend for 4 km until Casinina and then follow signs for Urbino. At Schieti, at about the 44-km mark, you climb up to Gadana and then continue to Urbino on an uphill road. There’s a descent of 5 km to Fermignano, where you climb for another 4 km and then descend again.
At Acqualagna, you’re half-way round the circuit. Here, you enter the Furlo Gorge through the Vespasiano tunnel and a really amazing spectacle lies before you. You continue to Calmazzo, springboard for Urbino at a height of 400 m, and 100 km along your route. After the village, there’s a steep 15% ascent for the next 1 km: not easy to face after all you’ve been through.
Fortunately, the 3-km descent that follows allows you to draw breath till Montecchio and confront the last climb of this itinerary: 3 km as far as Tavullia. Then it’s fast downhill to Riccione passing through S. Giovanni in Marignano.
Some advice… Keep snacking throughout the ride, a bit at a time to avoid a hunger crisis.
It’s a very long route and not without its pitfalls!

We are characterised by a concentration of adrenaline, traditions and typical cuisine, captured in the most beautiful tours that touch sites on the Adriatic coast such as Cesenatico, the land of Pantani, and reach all the way to Ferrara and Ravenna, cities of art and history, passing through rugged ascents such as those of Cippo and Carpegna, or the Cimone in Modena.
