Located in the heart of the Riviera Romagnola, halfway between Ravenna and Rimini, Gatteo a Mare steals the hearts of travellers in the summer period for its pedestrian area where you can walk or shop, the beach where children can swim and play safely thanks to the rocky breakwater and the Don Guanella gardens where you can find almost anything among the many stalls in the Monday morning market.
In spring and autumn, Gatteo a Mare attracts many sports people or cyclists who want to escape the harsh grey climate due to its mild weather conditions.

Every year the famous “Nove Colli” amateur cycling race (ROAD)The racing bike is, of course, the preferred type of bike for local cyclists but also for foreigners who want to spend their holidays here cycling. Not so far from Gatteo a Mare, every year the famous “Nove Colli” amateur cycling race is held here in the month of May with just under 15,000 participants from all over the world. From Gatteo a Mare you can tackle a hill every day which is different from the “Nove Colli” or go towards Rimini where you can reach the village of Verucchio. The ascents are not very long here, but short and steep so be careful not to underestimate them. |
Cervia’s salt ponds (MTB)If we had to describe the off-road experience you can enjoy in Gatteo a Mare in a few words, we would say: slow down so you can enjoy this world’s beauty. Since the routes here are not very demanding, the main thing is for you to discover places surrounded by nature which you would not have been able to truly appreciate. The most experienced cyclists will be spoilt for choice heading out into the Romagna hinterland while cyclists who want to ride leisurely and forget about the hectic daily routine will find it just right, for example, cycling towards Cervia’s salt ponds or the coastal marine reserve. |
